What is sacred to us? What should be sacred? Our personal data is one of the most sacred things to us. Data is one of the biggest ideas of our time. Today, data is everywhere. It is collected in the scientific analysis of the universe and the body movements of sports people, in the files of the secret service and the hospital, in the customer records of the supermarket, in the pages distributed across the internet, in the videos of our streets from cctv cameras and satellites. Moreover, the conceptual unity of all this data is made tangible as data becomes digital. It is common to listen to digital music, view digital photographs, television and films. Digital data is just data that can be represented by finite strings, normally of 0s and 1s. Our personal data should remain in eternity. To bring your emotional and personal data to a sacred data space is like a spiritual experience . You can then revisit your data and feel it. The structure of the Sacred Data Space consists of millions of translated data strings full of hidden emotional data. The first one is located in the middle of Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, Japan. Thousands of people passing the crossing every day makes it a perfect spot for the Sacred Data Space. Feeling Transcendence while traversing the crossing without touching other passengers. The Code for the structure was based on research of one of the oldest data carrier systems e.g. the quippu knotting system from the Incas and the theories of Generative Grammar. The code analyses data in form of text and translates it through knots and processes into form. The project Sacred Data Space was about creating a code which translates data into form to feel the data which is discreet and invisible. The project wants to raise awareness for the security and individuality of our personal data, as it seems that this awareness is on the decline in parts of our generation
