Rebecca Merlic, *1989 in Germany, retreats between Tokyo, Munich and Vienna. Her work is strongly influenced by alternative ways of society and transgression in socioeconomic conventions as well as new forms of artistic and architectural production employing new technologies.
She is the holder of the Marianne von Willemer Prize 2020 for digital media and the PIXEL,BYTES & FILM residency supported by the BMKOES and ORF III and works as university assistant in the core team of Experiment Game Cultures at die Angewandte.
Her artworks were on display at The International Media Art Festival CYFEST : COSMOS and CHAOS in St.Petersbourg, ARS ELECTRONICA, at Athens Digital Arts Festival and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Tokyo. Currently her new multiplatform community work GLITCHBODIES part01 is on display at CIVA Festival at Belvedere21 in Vienna.
Currently she is a transdisciplinary resident at European Alliance of Academies: Ignorance is Strength AIR program and she is working on DigitalHumanism x FutureLiving in collaboration with the Austrian Cultural Forum in Tokyo.
